But at the end of last season's Game Of Thrones, things finally started to look up for Emilia Clarke's Mother Of Dragons when mercenary soldier Daario Naharis came on the scene to help her conquer a slave city.
However, fans will have to get used to a different face playing the warrior, with new Season Four stills showing Treme star Michiel Huisman having been recast in the role.

The season also introduces a handful of key new characters to the already large cast, including The Red Viper Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) and Indira Varma as his paramour Ellaria Sand who are shown together in a new still.
'The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likeable, yet driven by hate,' showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly about the character. 'The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister.'
Another still shows Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) in conversation with her twin brother Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who is now toting a fake gold hand after it was chopped off by an angry soldier last season.

A new trailer released to promote the fourth season hints of trouble ahead for cowardly King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson)
It opens with a voice claiming the
people of Westeros 'love their king,' something the egotistical monarch
clearly believes following his fortuitous victory at the Battle Of The
Blackwater in series two, which he feels makes him the victor in the War
Of The Five Kings.
This is despite the fact it was only made possible due to the forces of his grandfather Tywin Lannister returning to Kings Landing just in time, and a daring defensive plot hatched by his uncle Tyrion.

It seems Tyrion's spell as Master Of Coin will not have a happy ending, as he is shown being led away in irons and locked in a dungeon.
The worried nobleman says: 'Things are intense right now. I don't think I'm talking my way out of this one.'

But what may emerge as truly the most devastating threat the kingdom is the White Walkers and the coming invasion of the wild men of the north.
Jon Snow tells his colleagues in the Night's Watch: 'If the wildlings breach the Wall they'll roll over everything and everyone.'
And it seems things will come to a head, as the beginning of a battle between the two unmatched factions is also shown.
